CERTIFICATION
Pre-Requisite for Basic Rope Skill Applicant:
- 18 years old and above
- Holding Valid Relevant Work-at Height Training or CSOC.
- Proof of medical condition from either one of the following.
- Declaration letter by employer
- Examination by GP
- Completed Self-declaration form prior training or assessment commencement.
- Able to speak, read and write simple English.
- Weight requirement – Training Centre to establish equipment limitation.
Pre-Requisite for Intermediate Level Rope Skill Applicant
- Same as Basic Rope Skill Applicant,
and
- Show proof of competency for Rope Skill Upgrading or for Assessment Only Pathway (AOP)
and - Minimum of 12 months of work experience as Basic Rope Access Technician (exclude work experience before qualification as Basic Level Rope Access Technician)
- Candidates applying to upgrades shall be competent in all practical and theory requirements of their current level prior to attendance of an upgrading course
Pre-Requisite for Advanced Level Rope Skill Applicant
- Same as Basic Rope Skill Applicant,
and
- Show proof of competency for Rope Skill Upgrading or for Assessment Only Pathway (AOP)
and
- Minimum of 12 months of work experience as an Intermediate Rope Access Technician on a complex site (exclude work experience before qualification as an Intermediate Rope Access Technician)
- Candidates applying to upgrades shall be competent in all practical and theory requirements of their current level prior to attendance of an upgrading course
Revalidation/Renewal
- ISOCERT revalidation/renewal is required every three years at all levels, following a minimum of 48hours training including assessment.
- Candidates applying for upgrades shall be competent in all practical and theory requirements of their current level prior to attendance of an upgrading course, e.g. an existing Basic-level technician attending an Intermediate-level course shall be capable of performing all Basic-level syllabus requirements prior to the start of an Intermediate-level course
- Candidates who are not competent at their existing level may require additional Training/Refresher Training (apply through approved training centre) prior to attendance of an upgrading course.
Scope of Certification:
- Basic Rope Skills
* A rope access technician who has demonstrate competence in a basic range of rope access maneuvers.
- Intermediate Rope Skills
* A rope access technician who has gained experience and has demonstrate competence in a wider range of techniques, including Rigging
ropes and understanding rescue. - Advanced Rope Skills
* A rope access technician who is capable of complete responsibility for rope access safety in work projects, is able to demonstrate skills and knowledge required of Basic and Intermediate Rope skills, is conversant with relevant work techniques and legislation, has an extensive knowledge of advanced rope access rigging and rescue techniques.
Impartiality Policy Statement – Public Statement
ISO Certification Ltd, its Director, Managers, Staff and others involved in the Certification of Persons fully understand the importance of impartiality in undertaking its Personnel. ISO Certification Ltd will therefore ensure that in its dealings with Candidates or potential Candidates, all employees or other personnel involved in Personnel certification activities. To ensure that impartiality is both maintained and can be demonstrated, ISO Certification Ltd has identified and risk assessed all relationships which may result in a conflict of interest or pose a threat to impartiality.
General Description of the Certification Process
APPLICATION
ISO Certification Limited requires the completion of an application, signed by the applicant seeking certification, which includes as a minimum the following requirements.
- information required to identify the applicant, such as name, address and other information required by the certification scheme.
- the scope of the desired certification.
- a statement that the applicant agrees to comply with the certification requirements and to supply any information needed for the assessment.
- any supporting information to demonstrate objectively compliance with the scheme prerequisites.
- notice to the applicant of his/her opportunity to declare, within reason, a request for accommodation of special needs, if any.
EXAMINATION / EVALUATION
Examinations are designed to assess competence based on, and consistent with, the scheme, by written or oral and practical, observational, or other reliable and objective means considering the type of certification. Mainly in case of certification of rope skill worker, the ability for donning harness and maneuver safely on ropes etc. is considered as a basic means for such certification including the required skill. The design of examination requirements ensures the comparability of results of each single examination, both in content and difficulty, including the validity of competent or not yet competent decisions. All the data bank / questionnaire used in the examination are of based on the objective evidence and does not have any hypothetical means, to conclude the personnel certification at the end of exam.
DECISION
During the examination / evaluation, the sufficient information is gathered during the certification process, which ensures:
- to make a decision on certification, and
- for traceability in the event, of an appeal or a complain
ISO Certification Limited provides a certificate to all certified persons. The sole ownership of the certificates is of ISO Certification Limited and has all rights. The full page A4 size certificate is issued as per Form No. F26 signed or authorized by a Director of ISO Certification Limited.
SUSPENDING, WITHDRAWING OR REDUCING THE SCOPE OF CERTIFICATION
ISO Certification Limited has a policy and procedure for suspension, withdrawal, or reduction of the scope of certification, and has specified the subsequent actions to be taken. The suspensions may be enforced due to one or more of the following reasons.
- The certified person has persistently or seriously failed to meet the certification requirements.
- The certified person does not allow surveillance or recertification audits to be conducted at the required frequency or has failed to pay the due fees.
- The certified person has voluntarily requested a suspension
- To comply with regulations, including regulations applicable to nations.
RECERTIFICATION PROGRESS
ISO Certification Limited. has documented procedure for implementation of the recertification process, in accordance with the certification scheme requirements. The recertification is always done at least 30 days before expiration of present certificate.
APPEALS AGAINST DECISIONS ON CERTIFICATION
ISO Certification Limited has a documented process to receive evaluates and makes decisions on appeals. The appeals handling process is made publicly available. The appeals handling process includes at least the following elements and methods.
- the process for receiving, validating, and investigating the appeal, and for deciding what actions are to be taken in response to it, taking into account the results of previous similar appeals.
- tracking and recording appeals, including actions undertaken to resolve them.
- ensuring that, if applicable, appropriate corrections and corrective actions are taken.
ISO Certification Limited responsible for all decisions at all levels of the appeals handling process. The ISO Certification Limited ensures that the decision-making personnel engaged in the appeals handling process are different from those who were involved in the decision being appealed.
